Insurance, financing, and what to expect
Brooklyn Periodontics is a specialty periodontal and implant practice at 26 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn. We file electronically with your dental insurance as a courtesy, our in-house insurance team handles predeterminations and paperwork, CareCredit financing is available, and you receive a written fee and insurance estimate before anything is scheduled.

Insurance and payment
Do you take my insurance?
We work with most dental insurance plans and file your claims electronically as a courtesy. Our insurance team handles the documentation, submits predeterminations where a plan requires one, and tells you the expected out-of-pocket in writing before treatment. Call or text us with your plan details and we will check it for you.
How does reimbursement work?
For plans where we are out of network, treatment is paid at the visit and your plan reimburses according to its own schedule. We prepare and submit the claim with the necessary x-rays, charting, and narrative so the plan has everything it needs, and we follow up on claims that stall.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We accept CareCredit, which offers interest-free and extended payment plans subject to approval. Larger treatment such as full-arch implants is commonly financed this way, and the front desk can walk you through the application.
Will I know the cost before treatment?
Always. You leave the consultation with the fee, the treatment sequence, and your insurance estimate in writing. Nothing is scheduled until you have seen it.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Major credit cards, debit, HSA and FSA cards, checks, and CareCredit.
Your first visit

Before you arrive
Complete the new patient registration online so the visit is not spent on paperwork. Bring your insurance card, a list of medications, and any recent x-rays or a treatment plan from another office.

The examination
A full periodontal examination with charting of every site, plus in-office 3D imaging where it is needed. Most consultations run about an hour.

The discussion
We review the images with you on screen, explain the diagnosis, and lay out the least invasive option that will actually hold, along with the alternatives including doing nothing.

The plan
The sequence, the fee, and the insurance estimate in writing. Treatment is scheduled only after you agree.
About the practice
Do I need a referral?
No. Most patients arrive on their dentist's referral because we are a referral-based specialty practice, but you are welcome to book directly, including for a second opinion.
Will I have to change dentists?
No. We treat gums, bone, and implants, then return you to your own dentist for crowns, fillings, and routine care, with a written summary of what was done.
What are your hours and where are you?
Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm, at 26 Court Street, Suite 1507, Brooklyn, NY 11242. We are near Borough Hall on the 2, 3, 4, 5, Court Street on the M and R, and Jay Street on the A, C, and F.
Do you see emergencies?
Yes. Acute swelling, an abscess, a loose implant, or a post-surgical concern gets seen. Call or text (718) 643-1953, and after treatment you have both doctors' direct cell numbers.
Do you remove wisdom teeth?
No. Impacted wisdom teeth are referred to an oral surgeon. We do extract other fully or partially impacted teeth, broken teeth, retained roots, and failing teeth, with socket preservation.
Treatment and recovery
Is treatment painful?
Procedures are performed under local anesthesia, with sedation available for longer surgery. Most patients describe soreness for two to three days rather than pain, and grafting is generally easier than expected.
How long is recovery?
Most patients return to work the next day and to exercise within about a week. Bone grafts and full-arch treatment involve a longer soft-food period, which we detail in writing before you commit.
Do you offer sedation?
Yes, for longer procedures and for anxious patients. We will discuss the options at the consultation.
What if something worries me afterwards?
You have written post-operative instructions, a post-op check-in form, and both doctors' cell numbers. Call, do not wait.

- A periodontist completes three additional years of surgical residency focused on gums, supporting bone, and dental implants. Both of our doctors trained at NYU and are board certified in periodontics.

- Your insurance card, a list of medications, and any recent x-rays, scans, or treatment plans from another office.
- How long is a first consultation?
- About an hour, including full periodontal charting, imaging where indicated, and a discussion of the plan.

- Do you treat implants placed at another office?
- Yes, routinely. Revision, salvage, and second-opinion work on implants placed elsewhere is a large part of the practice.
